In the past there have been many Star Trek films. Some of them not so good, full of cheesy lines, weak stories. For the new Star Trek this is not the case! This movie was fantastic. The best movie I have seen this year by far.
First the cast. Oh my heavens. The guy who plays Bones is perfect in every way. He talks the same moves the same and sounds the same. When he came on the screen and talked for 12 seconds I was smiling because he was so good. And that is how the whole cast worked out
Spock was to the T amazing. He for the most part looked just like Lenard Nemoy.
I was confused as to what the story of this movie would be like because it never explained more then Kirk going to the academy. No the story was dynamic it was funny it was exciting and intense. Full of twists and turns. Wonderful
Kirk is this cocky kid who thinks he is amazing...fact of the matter is he is amazing and he proves it very quickly in the movie.
The only problem I had with the movie was it was done by the guy who did Cloverfield, so some parts were very shaky and hard to follow what was happening but it got much better as the movie went on.
I will probably be seeing this movie countless times while it is in theaters. Fantastic!

X-Men Origins-Wolverine
I went to this midnight showing Thursday night to Friday morning. I was not sure really what to expect not being a huge X-Men freak but just a fan of the movies. I knew the basic story of Wolverine but wanted to know the whole story as I'm sure was the case with most who went to the movie.
I never understood in the first X-Men how Wolverine's powers worked. I knew he had the metal placed over his skeleton making him indestructible but I never understood how that made him heal himself as well. This movie shows that when he was a kid in 1845 his powers develop and his claws were actually bone at first. I did not know this.
The first ten min of the movie show how he and his brother (whose fingernails grow out to be claws) fight through various wars in for the United States and how they are never killed.
The next part of the movie is about how his brother and him join a special team of other mutants and they go in search of meteor rock all over the world (which turns out to be the stuff later Logan puts on his skeleton) and how they other members of the team are ruthless and kill everyone. Wolverines brother is in the lead with the killing so Wolverine leaves that team because he does not understand why everyone they meet needs to be killed, including large villages and tries to start a new life.
Then the movie really starts, with intense scenes as Sabortooth (wolverines brother) picks off one by one the other members of the team. And how Wolverine can beat his own brother even though he is evil and will kill him without a second thought.
The only problem I had with this movie were the few scenes where the visual effects were terrible. They were terrible because they were not necessary. They were only put into the movie because it was cheaper to computer generate the scenes then film them on location. Kind of lame in that aspect.
The movie also completely sets it up for another Origin movie, and possibly a whole new X-Men.
If you go see the movie be sure to stay until after the credits because that is where the set up takes place.
So I really did enjoy this movie, I think that I liked it better than the third X-Men.

Seven Pounds
I went into this movie having absolutely no idea what it would be about. The previews gave us no hint as to what was going to happen. Which is a smart move. You dont want to know what it is about when you go see it because it is a movie you want to figure out as it goes along.
I heard from a number of people that it was so confusing and they had no idea what was happening until the end of the movie. So going into this movie I was determined to figure it out. And I did, it really was not hard to predict what was going to happen. But how the movie was filmed and the parts of the story you picked up through out still kept you guessing.
Will Smith...the man is still fantastic. I said it in my first post, he can play any character. This movie further proves that fact. Even though you dont know exactly why he is upset or why he is crying in the movie you are pulled in and feel for him. As you start to understand more of what is going on you feel more and more what he is going through. He is fantastic in this movie. As he is in most movies he does.
On an overall opinion of this movie it was pretty good. Not the best movie I have seen all year but still a good thinker movie and very good entertainment. The movie makes you feel like you need to do good for others.
You need to see this movie to fully understand it. I cant give anything away in the post or it will ruin it when you watch it. I also recommend seeing it twice because you will pick up on so much more the second time.

Forever Strong
Mom requested I make a post about Forever Strong...So here I go haha.
For a movie that came from a fairly unknown director in the large Hollywood world the movie was very well done. It had moments when you could tell it was a semi low budget movie but nothing to distract from the story.
The movie had a good mix of large names and fairly unknowns. Sean Astin's character, a turned around delinquent who became a delinquent advisor, did a wonderful job helping the main character turning around. Even if I did have to fight the urge to yell "Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!" every time he was on screen.
The movie shows that leadership is more than being able to tell people what to do. It shows that to be a leader in a sport you need to be a leader in your community. The coach made the players on the Highland Ruby team go to the children's hospital and volunteer. They also plant trees and do landscaping around.
The coach makes it a point to know each of his players on a personal level to help encourage them to be better people and better players.
This movie is inspirational and makes you want to go out and do good for others. A very well made movie that plays off emotion and and showing no one is ever to far to turn around.

Australia
I really had not heard very much about this movie until it came out. So I did what I usually do and got on to Yahoo Movies and watched the preview. Which didn't really explain to me what the movie was going to be about. So I was kind of skeptical going into it.
However as soon as the movie started and got about 10 min. in I knew it was going to be worth it. Australia was full of action scenes and romance. A story that always kept you on the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns but could keep your attention throughout.
This movie very easily could have been two different movies. The first half is the story of how Hugh Jackman's character and Nicole Kidman's character meet and at first can not stand one another but later fall in love. After the first half is done it moves to a completely different story about trying to save the child they have in a way adopted, Nalla, from the Japanese attacking Darwin Australia in WWII. Which was packed full of action, suspense, and tore at your emotions.
This movie being nearly 3 hours long had so many different sub-plots going on at the same time I was not sure how they would tie them all back together and conclude before the movie was over, but the Director did a great job of this and all loose ends were tied up. And left you happy with those conclusions.
The only negative thing I can think to say about how the movie was made is that there were many scenes where the backrounds were CGI and you could 100% tell they were CGI and there really was no point for them to be that way. They would be of the sky or the rocks behind the characters, and I dont understand why they couldnt just use what was already there in the scene. It didnt seem to me like they were really in Australia at parts because they hardly ever used the actual backroud of Australia.
This movie was not the best movie of the year by any means but it was entertaining and I did enjoy it. It is well worth renting or going to see at any theater.

Twilight
Twilight...one of the best selling books in the world...one of the biggest flop movies ever! This movie was full of cheesy lines and terrible writing/acting. Now I read the books, I personally was not a fan of the books, but I can see how girls love them. The books let their imagination of this world with Edward go crazy. Here in the movie, they saw it how I did when I read the books. Edward was not as romantic as they all thought. His lines suddenly didnt sound quite so perfect. Every detail of the books that stimulated their imagination was left out, therefore forcing them to see Edward for what he was, a weird'o. In the movie never once does he say "I love you" to Bella once. Further proving my theory that Edward never really loves her he just wants to eat her, but I digress.
From the first ten min of the movie you could tell the whole movie was going to be full of cheesy situations and crappy acting. For example, when Bella first walks into her biology class. In the movie she walks in and the scene slows down as she walks in front of a fan which blows her hair wildly and then you see Edward have an over dramatic freak out. First thing wrong with this scene, Its Forks, its cold and rainy. Everyone has coats on, why would there be a fan on? Second, Edward's sense of smell would have been strong enough to pick her up as she walked in without the fan. And personally I think he wouldn't have looked like he was going to throw up all over the desk when he first smelled Bella, she smells good, that's why he likes her.
Next part in which I wanted to shoot myslef. When Edward shows her what he looks like in the sun. First in the book he doesnt want to show her at first it takes time to build to it. But in typical Hollywood fashion they change that. He is all excited to show her and he finds it completely vital that she sees. When it does show him he looks more homosexual then he did before when he "Glistens like Dimonds" Please people!
Now I must say positively the Cullens were cast very well, all of them I was very pleased with. Also Bella. Edward I thought was cast well but he actor himself could have used some work. He is English and you can pick up on his struggle for an American accent through out the film. In the first few scense he sounds kind of like a handicaped person.
All in all this movie was no good. I am sure all of the sisters who are fans of Twilight will enjoy it because the girls I went with said that there were parts they loved but they agreed all in all it was no good. This movie was not worth the wait.

I Am Sorry
I have not posted for over a month now, I am very sorry for this, I kind of ran out of money but will soon be starting a new job working as the Joker at a local haunted house! So as soon as I have money I will go see more movies and I will blog about them for you. Thanks!
